This weekend I rediscovered an audio book I bought a while back: The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. It reminded me of how excited I was when I discovered stoicism.
Over time I’ll say lot more about Stoicism and what it means to me , but for today I’ll make only a few comments.
- The concept of taking responsibility for your own actions and letting go of things you don’t have control of is key to a happy life
- Life is not fair, bemoaning that will not make it so. Focusing on all the ways other people have an advantage is not worth your time. Make your own way.
- Most obstacles can be viewed as opportunities. Those that can’t are not worth paying attention to. They’re nothing but distraction.
- Everyone has a story of adversity. Be compassionate.
